Zanda, Formerly Power Diary
In November 2024, we changed our name to Zanda. While our name and branding will change, our ownership, management, team, and commitment to providing an exceptional practice management experience will not.
Some Background
Almost 15 years ago, my brother Paul and I began a mission to make managing health practices easier, more efficient, and ultimately more rewarding. We started with the software I’d been using at my own health practice – a small system called “Pencil Me In.” We rebuilt this from the ground up and started adding features that we knew would help practices better serve their patients. We didn’t know if there would be a market for what we had in mind, but pretty soon, we started getting great feedback from our few initial customers. From these humble beginnings “Power Diary” was born!

A Story of Evolution
Since day one, Power Diary has been on a journey of constant evolution. What began as a simple diary (or calendar, depending on where you’re from), grew into a complete practice management platform, guided by the needs and feedback of our ever-growing community.
As healthcare itself evolved – with new technologies and changing practice management needs–we’ve continually expanded our features and offerings to stay ahead of the curve. We’ve added a client portal, online forms, automations, integrated insurance claiming, payment solutions, waitlist features, telehealth, a practice operations manual and more to streamline administrative tasks and make it easier to run a health practice.
Our platform grew beyond just a “diary” or calendar; it became an all-in-one practice management solution designed to lead in the modern healthcare landscape. Recognizing this evolution – both in our product and in the industry – it became clear that the name “Power Diary” no longer fully captured the breadth of what we offer.
The Name Change Process
We’ve known for some time that we needed a new name. Our team tried brainstorming, and we came up with different name options like “Happy Practice” or “Practice Partner,” but nothing felt quite right. Then, early in 2024, we worked with Lexicon Branding to come up with something better.
As we learned, a name can be thought of as a wine glass – it’s the vessel that holds and enhances what’s inside. The glass should suit its contents, but ultimately, it’s what’s inside that gives it meaning. So, while we love our new name, we know it’s our product, service, and reputation that really matters!
Working together with this agency, we followed a specific process, short-listed many options, tested some of them in the market, conducted legal screening, and ultimately selected the name “Zanda.”
So What Does Zanda Mean?
Zanda is a made-up word, but it takes inspiration from;
- Our commitment to cover all aspects of practice management – everything from “Z” to “A” and back again.
- “Zing” – The energy and aliveness that makes us interesting and positive.
- “Buzz” – Most of us want to ‘buzz through the busy work,’ and that’s exactly what our system aims to do.
Plus, we wanted a name that is shorter, more modern-sounding, and one that will evolve with us as we continue to add more features for health practices.

Most importantly, we want to be clear: while our name and look are changing, our ownership, management, and feature set aren’t.
The next chapter of our journey is about staying true to what we’ve always believed in – making life easier for health practitioners. With Zanda, we’re doubling down on our mission to take care of the busy work, so you can focus on what matters most.
We believe Zanda is a name that reflects our energy and forward-thinking approach to helping health practices thrive. And that’s what we’re passionate about!

After selecting the name, we worked with AtticSalt Branding to help craft the look and feel of our brand.
The Zanda Logo
The brandmark shown here takes inspiration from DNA (as being a practitioner is part of our DNA), the flight path of bees (intelligent and essential to the environment, they do all the ‘busy’ work – just like our system aims to), and the movement of dance.

Combining the distinctive and energetic brandmark with the solid and reliable wordmark forms a balance that encapsulates the system we aim to be for our customers.

Say hello to “Bizzy” – The Zanda Mascot
Embracing the “buzzzzz” of Zanda, we decided to introduce a brand mascot to highlight our personable and friendly approach.
“Bizzy” is a bee that is here to demystify the system and make health practice life easier. He’s that little helper who is intelligent and ready to give you assistance!

To brighten things up, we’ve also refined our colors…

Icons, Typography, and Patterns
To round things out, we also have a new icon style, font face, and some patterns that you’ll see being used here and there.

What to Expect
Most things will stay the same for now, with changes rolling out over the next few weeks. The expected timeline for this rollout is as follows;
- Starting on November 6, 2024, you’ll see an announcement on our login screen and an in-app notification featuring our new logo and mascot, Bizzy.
- On November 21, 2024, you’ll notice that the app has new branding and colors. To see our website, instead of going to www.powerdiary.com you will go to zandahealth.com.
- On December 29, 2024, the app URL will be updated. We’ve chosen to make this change during the holiday season to minimize disruption to our customers. We’ll give details for your new login page later as these vary by region. But don’t worry, redirects will be in place to ensure a smooth transition as you update bookmarks and workflows – or you can always go to our website and login from there.
